Research Interests
Sam's research interests include a study of the combined inhibition of mTOR and Akt in a TSC mouse model.
--Studies have demonstrated that while mTOR inhibition has illicited a dramatic response in various tumor types, the response is not durable off therapy and the tumors regrow. It has been suggested that Akt activity might occur upon mTOR treatment, leading to a growth effect that negates the benefit of mTOR blockade in treating TSC-related tumors. My study is investigating the effect of combined inhibition of mTOR and Akt on tumors in a mouse model.
